The Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio HD Plus steps the HyperDeck line up to 6G-SDI, Ultra HD recording and graphics playback with fill and key — in a half rack, one rack unit chassis.

Connections
1 x SDI input, 2 x SDI outputs and a dedicated SDI monitor output, at 270Mb, 1.5G, 3G and 6G. 1 x HDMI 2.0 input and 1 x HDMI 2.0 output. Timecode in and out on BNC, reference in and out, and RS-422 in and out for deck control.

Fill and key playback
ProRes 4444 playback to 1080p60 with automatic fill and key routing over SDI outputs A and B. That means graphics, lower thirds and animated overlays play straight into a switcher's key inputs without any extra hardware — the single most useful reason to choose the Plus over the Mini.

Recording
SD, HD, 2K DCI, Ultra HD to 2160p30 and 4K DCI to 30p. 4:2:2 YUV 10-bit with HDR support for HLG and ST2084. Codecs: ProRes 422 HQ, 422, LT and Proxy to 2160p30; DNxHD 220x, 145 and 45 to 1080p60; DNxHR HQX, SQ and LB for 2K DCI and Ultra HD to 30fps; and H.264. 33-point 3D LUTs can be applied to the SDI monitor output for on-set grading reference.

Media
2 x SD card slots supporting UHS-I and UHS-II, formatted ExFAT or HFS+, plus a USB-C 3.0 expansion port for external disk recording.

Control and monitoring
Thirteen transport buttons with a search dial and 2.2 inch colour LCD. A built-in mono speaker and 6.35mm headphone jack for confidence monitoring. Remote control over RS-422 or the HyperDeck Ethernet Protocol on 1Gb/s Ethernet, with FTP upload.

Audio
16 channels of embedded SDI audio in and out, 8 channels of embedded HDMI audio in and out.

Power
Internal 100 to 240V AC supply plus a broadcast 4-pin XLR 12V DC input. 100W maximum. One year limited manufacturer's warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "Plus" add over the HD Mini?

The HD Plus adds better transport controls, front-panel headphone and speaker monitoring, and 6G-SDI connectivity with fill-and-key output for more advanced broadcast setups.

What storage does it use?

SD card recording, the same media type as the HD Mini, with the added front-panel monitoring and control of a broadcast deck.

Does it support SDI monitoring?

Yes, it includes SDI monitoring output alongside its recording and playback SDI connections.

What's it typically used for?

Broadcast and live production environments that need deck-style record/playback with better on-unit monitoring and control than the entry-level HD Mini.
